Precision
Automated Manual Distillation Unit
ASTM D86; IP 123; ISO 3405
The
ORBIS PAM-Distillation is the final result of the "ORBIS
Basic Line" Distillation Units. Well devised and
successfully tested, the unique details of this Fully
Automatic Distillation Unit are as follows:
NEW
ORBIS Revolutionary "Volume-Scan" System
is accurately measuring the true recovered volume at the
bottom line of the meniscus, eliminating volume measurement
errors. Ring marks on receivers do not disturb the volume
measurement using this technique - Automatic calibration of
the volume measuring system is performed before each
distillation start -Solid-state volume detection and receiver
cooling technique. - Recovered volume and receiver temperature
is displayed on a large display at the front panel of the
receiver compartment.
ORBIS
Dynamic Mercury Thermometer Simulation The unique
ORBIS dynamic simulation model ensures that all temperature
points are converted precisely to correspond with results
obtained from ASTM 7C/F or ASTM 8C/F mercury in glass
thermometers, the specified temperature standards for most
distillation methods.
ORBIS
Auto Temperature-Probe Detection Each temperature
sensor contains a unique 'identifier', which stores
calibration data specific to that sensor. In the event that
the sensor must be replaced, relevant sensor data is
automatically recognized and transferred to the distillation
unit eliminating the risk of using wrong calibration data with
an exchanged temperature probe and avoiding the need to
re-program calibration data.
Stand-Alone
Operation The PAM-Distillation is designed to fully
operate without a separate PC. Distillation programs can be
set up directly and data is stored in built in database.
Printing and data transfer to host computer (LIMS) can be done
after successful distillation or from the integral database at
the time it is required.
Barometric
Pressure Correction An integral electronic
precision barometer compensates for changes in ambient
pressure and automatically corrects volume/temperature point
readings.
Automatic
Loss Correction is achieved by simply entering the
residue and recovery data.
A
low voltage heater module is mounted directly into
the flask support board for optimum heat transfer and energy
efficiency. "Snap on" system means heater is easy
and quick to replace in case needed.
Flask
heating is displayed by a large display located on
the front panel of the heater unit. If required the heater
temperature can be maintained manually for a manual operation
of the distillation unit from here as well.
The
heater module is controlled by an algorithm that
prevents pulsing during distillations ("Advanced
Single-Cycle Switching Method")
The
heat shield is double walled and completely covers
the flask neck as specified in the Method to protect the Flask
neck from being cooled by the surrounding air.
Flask
cooling is via a fan system located below the flask
heater, this allows rapid cooling of the flask after each
test.
The
heater unit has an integral spillage container to
safely retain the sample/broken glass in the event of flask
breakage
The
instrument incorporates the unique ORBIS Solid State Condenser
System that uses Peltier elements to control the
temperature of the condenser tube. The condenser system has
integral coolers and requires no external cooling system. The
system operates without any liquids or moving parts and hardly
requires any maintenance.
Condenser
temperature is displayed by a large display located
on the front panel of the condenser unit. If required the
condenser temperature can be maintained manually for a manual
operation of the Distillation unit from here as well.
The
condenser tube temperature can be regulated for
manual operation of the distillation unit between 0 - 60 °C
and reaches 0°C in less than 10 minutes (at ambient of 25°C)
The
Condenser Tube is made from high quality seamless stainless
steel and has a highly polished internal surface
for reproducible liquid flow, enhanced repeatability and easy
cleaning.
A
unique "ORBIS BV Multipurpose Flask Support Board"
contains all 4 standard hole diameters and allows user to
easily select flask support diameter according to his test
requirement (with no need to take out the support board
between distillations).
Fully
usable in Stand Alone Mode: ORBIS PAM-Distillation
can be operated as a Manual, Semi or Full Automatic
Distillation unit.
Simple
and straight forward operation, with a single
scroll button all menus are selected and required parameters
are set quickly. Parameters are stored in Distillation
programs for subsequent recall with the next distillation.
ORBIS
Measuring Cylinders fully made from glass with a
closed bottom, eliminating the risk of leaking O-rings.
ORBIS
Distillation Flasks are
manufactured precisely conform the test standards, each flask
is marked with an individual serial number and supplied with a
test certificate.
